Department of History of Ukraine and Special Branches of History

 

The Department of History of Ukraine and and Special Branches of History was formed in 2019 by combining two departments – the Department of History of Ukraine (from 1966) and the Department of Special Branches of History (from 1969). The Department of History of Ukraine was headed by I. Kolodiazhnyi, O. Pryimenko, R.  Liakh, P. Dobrov, O. M. But. But over the years, while the Department of Special Branches of History was headed by V.  Blyzniuk, R. Liakh, V. Pirko. Now the unified department is headed by N. Temirova.

The department provides postgraduate studies on specialty 032 “History and Archeology”.

The team implements two initiative research topics: “History of Ukraine in the context of world history: current issues of research” (head – But O.), and “Historical science as a factor of historical memory” (head – Temirova N.). Together with researchers from Kharkiv, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa National Universities, the department participates in the implementation of the international scientific project “Practices of Self-Representation of Multinational Cities”.

Specialty 032 “History and Archeology”

Educational program «History and Archeology» («Bachelor»)

The purpose of the educational program is to train high-level specialists who have basic knowledge and practical skills and are able to apply them in professional activities – scientific, educational, cultural and administrative. The objects of study are the past of Ukraine and humanity in all its manifestations; development of individual peoples and states; study of political, socio-economic, historical and cultural processes and phenomena from ancient times to the present.

The purpose of the educational program is to train highly qualified, competitive specialists with fundamental vocational training in history and archeology, in-depth knowledge of one of the sections of historical science, high thinking culture, analytical skills; conversant with the main tendencies of socio-economic, socio-political, cultural progress of mankind; able to use the acquired skills in professional activity; ready to adapt to the new challenges in a rapidly developing world community and global intellectual space.

Educational Program «Public History»

The aim of the program is to train highly qualified professionals who contain the qualities of a historian with a deep knowledge of the contemporary achievements of historical science, the ability to publicly broadcast academic knowledge of the past, able to respond to public inquiries.
